While trekking in Sapa we stopped for a while to relax near a few fields. People were talking and enjoying themselves and I started to moan about the weight of my camera bag when I noticed this lady getting ready to get back on the road. I’ve always loved how woman in certain parts of the world wrap their babies on their back, and how easy and how close they look with their child, there is an intimacy in this act. When she started to get her little one ready I couldn’t resist and took a shot of it. Focused and turning her head a little toward her baby, she gives a dreamy feeling to this photo that the background light bokeh compliments well.
Location: Sapa, Vietnam
Processing: As much as possible I like to avoid too much post processing. There is 2 reasons for that: I love photos as natural as possible and… I’m really not the best at post processing photos.
For this photo I’ve applied my usual routine: worked on the curves (closing the gap between the blacks and whites, arranging the contrast a little) but also had to apply a High Pass filter. This type of filter is perfect when your photo might look, for some reason, a little blurred. Duplicate your background photo, apply as overlay and change your filter to High Pass to get a sharper image. A bit of vibrancy was also added due to the lack of light on the day that photo was taken.
